Zen Meditation

A Buddhist monk receives instruction from his teacher to
meditate for exactly 45 minutes. He has no watch. Instead he is given two incense sticks, each of which burns completely in exactly 1 hour. The sticks are not identical, and they burn with varying unknown rates (they are hand-made). With these two incense sticks and some matches, can the monk arrange for exactly 45 minutes of meditation?
